Surf League

The challenge

Immediately after the first surfing Olympic games, the men's and women's Corona Open Mexico took place in Barra de la Cruz as the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour’s ultimate event. Seeking international coverage and exposure, the WSL tasked The Brand Agency with publicizing their event, reaching new audiences, and expanding out of traditional media practices. The team worked creatively to find new ways to expose many to this event like never before.  Although a few challenges were met due to COVID, athlete access, and scheduling, our team pivoted strategies to ensure meaningful coverage was secured.

Data-driven Results

OVER 73 MILLION IMPRESSIONS

The Brand Agency targeted top tier national and international outlets, including sports news, entertainment news, and more. In an effort to reach more viewership and increase visibility, we positioned WSL through unique social media efforts and created essential partnerships through organic gifting with influential content creators to promote the competition to their audiences. Ultimately, reaching over three hundred thousand new potential viewers through social media.

As a result of The Brand Agency's efforts, The World Surf League was covered internationally by top outlets like FanSided, Men’s Journal, CNN Español and the Morning Brew. Also crossing over into the social sphere with promoted posts from influential content creators.
