71st Miss Universe

Competition

the challenge

The 71st Annual Miss Universe Competition took place in New Orleans on January 14, 2023 with delegates from over 80 countries competing for the crown. The Brand Agency was tasked with driving pre-event press, generating a media blitz for the newly crowned Miss Universe, and working to help spotlight MUO’s new owner, JKN Global Group by giving Anne Jakkaphong a megaphone in the media surrounding the show.

Data-driven results

OVER 1 BILLION MEDIA IMPRESSIONS

The Brand Agency worked quickly to put together a PR plan that mapped back to the organization’s goals. Our team made sure to secure well known partners to launch important announcements about the competition. From there, we pitched widely to international, national, and local press/broadcast to cover all aspects of the competition. Once the winner was announced, we pitched her to a variety of well known local and national publications for post-event coverage.

Because of our efforts, we were able to secure pre-event coverage with publications like Variety, Insider, and InStyle as well as additional press hits with Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, and more. Locally, our team was able to lock in coverage from NOLA.com, WDSU, and WSL–TV (broadcast). Additionally, we were able to secure coverage from a number of well known international outlets such as Vogue Philippines, ABS-CBN, and GMA (some of the largest news organizations in the Philippines).

Through our pitching efforts, we were able to secure competition and winner coverage in publications such as E! Online, People, Byrdie and more. Additionally, we secured coverage surrounding Miss Universe’s new owner, Anne Jakkaphong in outlets like MetroWeekly and Fast Company.
